Have a Happy Happy!

Hope everyone has had and will have a great holiday, and that everyone stays safe.

In other news: Go see Sweeny Todd. If you like the musical, you'll like the flick. Depp was great and his voice was surprising. The only thing I didn't like about it was the fact that the really cool chorus songs are not in the movie.

Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas, but I hate not having more money to give enough. I always feel as if I don't give enough to everyone. I'm sure they don't really care because it's the thought that counts and I put a lot into my gifts, but I just wish I could do more for the people that do so much for me. Sometimes I feel like maybe I could do more or give more, but I just don't have the funds.

I hope that by this time next year I have gotten a promotion, a good raise, hit it big or something. I don't want to keep this same old song in my choirbook. I know I am better off than some people and should be happy with what I have but if what I have doesn't make me happy then I just need to work for more. I think I deserve it, and I think the people around me deserve better than what I can give them.

A Blackberry First

After a day from hell I went and got myself a BBPearl as I said earlier. This thing is the most awesome piece of technology that I have ever owned. As a matter of fact, this entry was written on it.

I'll talk more later now it's cocoa and Christmas lights time.

I haven't posted in a few but I've been relatively busy.

I do have to tell you that yesterday was the day from hell. It started with the jerk at the junkyard, that was far from helpfull and didn't have one of the parts I needed, and wanted to overcharge me for the other. Then I lost my phone. The rest of the day just sucked all together. The only good that came out of it was that I got to hang out with my family and I got the phone I've been wanting. I picked up the BlackBerry Pearl. It's a sweet little machine, I'll tell you what!

We went and saw Fred Claus yesterday, which was freaking awesome. I do have to say it is tied with Elf as the best Christmas movie ever. I don't even know what to say except if you even remotely like Vince Vaughn then you will love this flick. Go see it, don't wait, go see it now!

So I think I'm gonna hunt down this Murphy guy and hit him in his teeth for that damn law of his. It seems to be the rule that my life abides by.

So I was having a problem with my headlights not turning on, it wasn't the bulbs, it wasn't a fuse, so it had to be the switch. Ok. I go and buy the switch and Vanessa's Step dad Don helped me get to the point where you just swap it out, and apparently the reason it went out is because the wire harness melted. YEAH! We try and find this harness thing at a parts store but were unsuccessful in doing so. So now it's time for the "Guess Which Wire Goes Where Game!" WOOT! WOOT! Needless to say it was freezing and a giant pain, but we finally got it and the hot glued the wires in place.

If it hadn't been for Don then I probably would been in the dashboard for alot longer, and lost a few fingers from frostbite.
So I am attempting to read all of the 100 books on the Modern Library's "100 Best Novels" published in the English language since 1900. I am starting with the top 25 and then working my way down. I have never read most of the books and haven't heard of quite a few of them. I think this is one of my worthy goals to try, seeing as most of my past goals have been less enriching. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller is my first book that I picked off the list. I origionaly was going to start at #1 and work my way down but when I walked into Barnes & Noble I saw a poster for Catch-22 and figured it was a sign.

A doctor has created the "fast food diet" a six week program in which you actually lose weight while eating nothing but fast food. Even though this may be a viable option, I have decided to take on a goal of no fast food for 30 days. I am considering everything a fast food restaurant that takes less than 10 minutes to serve me, but not ruling out everything. Subway will still be on my list of OK but something like a burger from a restaurant is still not OK.

Wish me luck.

I had a pretty cool time at Great Cats yesterday and all we did was dig and break cinder blocks. But by doing that we helped create a better drainage system for when it rains, so that less flooding on the grounds will occur. I also spent a brief time with the animals which was pretty awesome.

I added a link to the Great Cats site and also a donation link to help out. If you live nearby you should definitely go, maybe even volunteer. If those options are not in your future than I would hope you do donate, because every dollar helps provide food, shelter and care for these amazing creatures.

I am a huge Chicago Bears fan. My moods change with the course of the season and this last loss has broken my spirits. We start the game with what looked like the best we have played all season and then like Keyser Soze *poof* it was all gone. I'm sorry if you don't like football but I can't express what I'm feeling right now, it's like an animal is inside me and wants out. I'm a little dramatic I know.

On a good note, I am heading over to Indiana to spend some time with the kitties over at Great Cats. One of my best friends volunteers there and I'd like to go and help out. It's an awesome place, they take care of lions, tigers, bears and other exotic animals that have been displaced due to neglect, abandonment, abuse or legal matters. http://www.greatcatsofindiana.org/

5 Best Things to Say When Caught Sleeping at Your Desk:
by Liz Kroll

5. "They told me at the Blood Bank this might happen."

4. "This is just a 15 minute power nap they raved about in the time management course you sent me to."

3. "Whew! Guess I left the top off the Whiteout. You probably got here just in time."

2. "Did you ever notice sound coming out of these keyboards when you put your ear down real close?"

And the NUMBER ONE best thing to say if you get caught sleeping at your desk...

1. Raise your head slowly and say, "...in Jesus' name, Amen."

I just found out that we are not getting a cat. We "rent" from Vanessa's parents so if there is something we want to do in the condo we have to ask. Well the parental units said no to the cat and I must say I am disappointed that we aren't getting a pet. I was really looking forward to the new addition but it's cool I'll live.

Oh and the tree is up and it's awesome.

TIME FOR PIZZA BETCH!
Peace out!

Well it's that time of year again. I'm doing the internet shopping thing this year so that's new to me. We will see how that goes as far as if I'll ever do it again or maybe just use it to support my regular shopping. Basically the experiment is that I'm going to do all my shopping online that I can and see if it's going to be something for me.

The decorations, at least most of them including the "Barbie Tree" (long story with a bad ending) went up yesterday and the Big Tree will go up today. I love when the tree is up it's always a cool thing to come home and see it in the window. At least we don't have the bells that Vanessa's mother has. It's like a string of bells hung across the window pane that constantly dings Christmas music. That will drive you to insanity.

Well I'm gonna go and see if I can get breakfast going and wake up the lady, peace out y'all.

Horray me

I haven't smoked for 1 week 1 day and 13 hours. Not bad if I do say so myself. Maggie and Pher (my best friends) also quit smoking this past week. That will be a big help seeing as I'm always around them and the temptation would be bad for any of us. This way with none of us smoking there is noone to keep us down.

I am working on trying to make a time schedule to plan out my days to have a little ordered chaos. I need to get myself used to working on a schedule so I can get enough sleep and do my regular duties around the house. I mainly want to do this so I can get back to running. I watched a bunch of videos and remembered why I want to loose the weight, why I want to quit smoking and why I want to run that marathon. Man I want that so bad I can taste it...
I'm Jay a 24 year old procrastinator living in the west suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I started a blog because, well because that's what attention whores do.

I am currently working on getting my bachelor's degree, planning for my wedding with my amazing fiancee, working in downtown Chicago, spending way too much money on crap and spending way too much time on the net. I want to be a grown-up someday but for now I'll just spend my days as a giant man child.
